MMI Learns about Genius Boot

Orlando, FL - Scott’s own Primo Marotto visited the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) campus in Orlando, FL recently to conduct a seminar on the safety features and innovations of the Genius boot.
Between 40 and 50 students showed up for the two sessions conducted by Marotto. Emphasizing that the Genius is better categorized with the neck and knee braces that are now a standard in the motocross industry, Marotto detailed the characteristics that allow the boot to be more than just a piece of footwear.

The boot is designed to protect the foot and lower leg by utilizing rigid materials and an innovative pivot system. Primo explained how the DuPont materials provide better protection from impact than conventional leather and how the pivot system allow natural ankle movement while limiting over-extension.

The students at MMI welcomed Scott with open arms and were very encouraged by Scott’s drive to provide the best products for the industry they love.
Thanks goes out to Chris Reo and the entire MMI staff for their hospitality.

Sure the spec'd to the gills Ransom Ltd can win a best money no object award. But, if you read the last paragraph of this page, you'll notice they give the Ransom the award for its ability to tackle the steepest leg shredding climbs while maintaining the capability to race demanding DH courses such as the Mega Avalanche at Alpe D'Huez. The good news is ALL Ransom models are equipped with SCOTT's patented triple chamber Equalizer shock and multiple linkage suspension system. This is the heart of the Ransom, it allows the rider to manually select the suspension setting for the varying terrain ahead with a simple flip of the bar mounted TC switch. Read page...(PDF)

Millville: All RV and Townley

Millville, Minnesota – This past Saturday rain poured down on the practice session at the Millville track, forcing the session to be cut short. Fortunately the sun was back for racing on Sunday, allowing teammates Ryan Villopoto and Ben Townley to continue their battle for points in the Lites class.
Ben was able to grab the win in moto one, but Ryan came back in moto two to take the win and the overall victory. Just two points separate the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki riders with Townley just ahead of RV.
In other news, Tim Ferry now sits atop the points leader board with Andrew Short. Neither rider landed a podium spot at Millville, but both were consistent enough to hold onto the top points spot.

Burkhart Grabs Gold At X-Games 13

Los Angeles - Maintaining momentum from the AMA Supermoto Series, Mark Burkhart showed up to X-Games 13 wanting no less than gold. Unsatisfied with a silver medal in X-Games 12, Mark lined up at the start with a new game plan: patience.
The 32-lap race offered up plenty of pavement, and most riders chose to run soft to medium compound tires. The large amount of pavement lent itself to passing opportunities, and Mark needed only two opportunities: one to pass David Pingree and one to pass the leader, Jeff Ward.
Early in the race Ward, Pingree, and Burkhart broke away from the rest of the field, making it a race for podium positions. With Ward up front, Pingree held off Burkhart for as long as he could, but Burkhart stayed patient and waited for his opportunity. Finally, he saw his chance, took it, and set his sights on Ward’s back wheel.
Maintaining his game plan, Burkhart stayed on Ward’s wheel and waited. Finally, in the 30th lap, opportunity rose again. Mark struck and took over the lead. Not willing to give back an inch, he lowered his head and raced toward the checkered flag. After a bobble by Ward in a rhythm section, Burkhart gained some separation and rode to a brilliant victory.

Congratulations Mark!

Loket, Czech Republic - Rainy and muddy conditions brought the first overall victory in MX2 for the 19 year old Nicolas Aubin. Scott is very proud of him. He’s only the 2nd rider this year who has been able to beat Cairoli; the other being Christophe Pourcel.

In MX1 action Sebastien Pourcel finished 2nd overall, behind Kevin Strijbos.

Meanwhile Josh Coppins was unable to add to his points, due to a rock jammed in his rear brake in the 1st moto and crash in 2nd moto which resulted in an injured shoulder. Josh still has 77 points over Steve Ramon but won’t be able to race this upcoming weekend in Belgium. He will be back for the Irish GP in 2 weeks.

Rebeaud Takes 2nd @ X-Fighters in Madrid

Mat Rebeaud grabbed 2nd place at the Red Bull X-Fighters in Madrid, Spain despite a broken hand suffered 2 weeks ago. With just 3 days on the bike before the event, Mat proved again that he is one of the best freestyle riders in the business.
6 screws and a plastic plate held his right hand together so he could twist the throttle enough to launch off of the ramps. Not easy.

Now Mat is revving for X-Games 13 this weekend in LA. With a silver medal from last year already in the trophy case, Mat is looking to grab up a gold for the top shelf.
